Salt Supping Is Making Me Blow UP!

Well I've finally figured out what is making me gain so much weight and I think it's the salt supping.

I've put on 12lbs since I start adding a little sea salt in water 2-3 times a day depending upon my salt wasting symptoms. My entire body looks puffy and my face looks like a balloon. I don't know what to do. My blood pressure isn't rising at all, so I'm not worried about that.

Not being able to fit into my clothes is a problem though and I've been too sick to deal with trying clothes on in the store. It's also difficult to even FIND pants these days since every store is ready for summer. I hate that...

130 is officially the heaviest I've been in probably about 8 years and I'm certainly not PROUD of that achievement. I'm going to lay off the sea salt and see what happens.

The past 2 weeks have been TERRIBLE for me. The fatigue is out of control. Anything that is stressful or requires extra concentration makes me crash within an hour. I tried target shooting and I couldn't even do it. The noise made me shake and I had a panic attack. Thankfully it was just me and my husband. We came home and I slept for 2 hours or so.

It's been a pretty terrible week, which is why you haven't heard from me.

Time to make coffee or I'll be going back to bed.

Hi Dana

sorry to hear you're feeling rough. I have to report the same problem with salt though. It instantly makes me swell, and I'm just too vain to do it! I take Florinef, which supposedly needs salt to work, but it seems to work just fine without it (although I do take a high dose). Funny how we both have weak adrenals, and can't tolerate salt.

Hopefully you will lose the fluid once you have stopped.

Hey Nicola,

What I can't understand is that my sodium levels are low...Why isn't my body happy for the salt? When I drink I feel better within the hour and my blood pressure comes up and my HR goes down. It sounds like florinef won't change this for me since you are still having problems with it? That doesn't make me too happy! haha

I'm really hoping that Monday goes well at the new docs and I've even convinced my husband to go in the appointment with me...He's never done that before. He's just about had enough of me and there is so much tension between us.

If things don't get better I figure we'll be separated soon enough...sigh :/

sorry to hear about your husband. Lord knows it's not easy trying to maintain a relationship through all of this. I put the fact that my husband hasn't left me down to an extremely tolerant nature and a busy work schedule. I have been rather left to get on with it by myself. Things were VERY difficult in the beginning, but less so now I am seeing some improvement, and have no more new symptoms appearing. When I had new symptoms almost every day, I became obsessed with finding out what was causing them, which is obviously difficult for someone else to go through.

my advice would be to ease off a bit - have days when you don't talk about your health, do things together as far as you are able, even laugh a little.

Hang in there...

It's really hard because we both work out of the house. He always tells me that other couples couldn't do what we do (see each other all the time haha). I think that's what makes this harder. If he was working out of the house 14 hours a day, then I don't think it would bother him as much. I don't exactly have any girl friends to bitch to or complain about not feeling well. Once I got married at 19 all of my friends stopped calling me back. I think that's why I made my blog, so I can sort of make it a friend/diary in one.

I will make a better effort at not talking about my health. Sometimes something comes running out of my mouth and I catch myself half way through. "Doh"

He loves me and wants to be with me. I know this. Just some days it's hard for me to pretend I'm OK when I just physically CAN'T go for a walk at the park. Last night right before bed, my heart rate went up to 130 for NO reason. BP was normal, which was so odd!

I had to tell him this just in case something happened.

I'm trying to be better about not talking about my health. It worked yesterday.

We went for a walk at the park and had a good time yesterday. :-)
